#chamomilecrop handmade top

I was really lucky to be selected to test @sarkristen new #chamomilecrop pattern. Testing a pattern is something pattern makers organise before their pattern is ready to go live. The pattern company get together a team of sewers who are all different shapes and sizes with differing skill levels and they receive the pattern draft. Each maker is required to make the pattern with the time frame, complete a feedback form and note any issues with the pattern and literature.

I do not own a printer so normally I have to organise a kind friend to print the paper pattern for me on A4 and then stick it all together, it is laborious and takes hours and is never as accurate so this time I used a service called @printyourown pattern.

The #chamomilecrop is designed to be used with a mid-weight woven with drape. I first toiled it in a cotton jersey (as I really need some jersey Pjama vests) it was a disaster so I second timed round I followed the rules and made it with this pure linen from Tatlers. I drafted the skinny versions in a US size 10 and shortened the straps by 2cm on the front and back and then I took 5cm off the body length and added a ruffle that 1.5 times the width of the hem circumference and I cut the ruffle on the bias. The fit alterations worked a treat, I am 5ft 3” and a UK size 10.

I made it two weeks ago I worn it almost every day so definitely going to make more…maybe a yellow one next!
